We made it for you so you can make it your own.
Making our own products is something we've been thinking about for years. Ideas have been kicked around in the back channels of Hodinkee in some form or another since our migration from Tumblr (remember those years?) to dot com. Since 2012, Hodinkee has partnered with countless amazing watch brands and dabbled in some other areas as well – apparel with Drake's, photography with Leica, accessories with S.T. Dupont and Montblanc, and storage cases with Globe-Trotter.
It's not just watches that inspire us.

Regular readers will know we have a fairly wide-ranging set of interests in mechanical objects and classic design. Just pick up any volume of the Hodinkee Magazine and you're likely to see a feature on something outside of watches – vintage Alfa Romeos coach-built by Zagato, the history of Isamu Noguchi's paper Akari lamps, a photo report of Eileen Gray's unbelievable E-1027 house, or a treasure trove of Bang & Olufsen tube radios, just to name a few. So, today, the Limited Editions team is proudly releasing products outside of the horological scope, with Hodinkee Collection 01.
Before we go any further, let's be clear about what this is not. It's not "merch." Our goal was not to slap the Hodinkee logo on a t-shirt and call it a day. It's also not groundbreaking. And honestly, that's kind of the point. While our creative and design team is as diverse as it's ever been, we approached this project with two thoughts in mind: To make classic products that reference the best of the past, like we often do with watches, and to create objects that don't scream, "I'm a watch person!" but still pay homage to the things that brought us all to this incredible community.

Our designs are intentionally subtle and purposeful, because our vision for Hodinkee Branded Product is to make a few great products with manufacturers that we trust for use in your everyday life. We like to say that we made it for you, so that you could make it your own. And we thought, what better place to start than with a few items that Hodinkee staffers deem essential – hats, totes, and notebooks. While these items aren't necessarily "limited," they will likely never be reproduced in the exact same configuration again, and they do come from the design minds of Hodinkee's very own "Skunk Works," the Limited Editions team.

Produced for us in the United States by Ebbets Field Flannels, we've added a few small tweaks to make it ours. Inspired by vintage baseball hats of yesteryear, we've opted to entirely remove the crown lining, preventing the hat from sitting too high and proud on the head and giving a more casual and old-school feeling. The visor is soft and malleable for a worn-in feel and features Ebbets' signature green satin on the underside. On the back, there is a tiny nod to Hodinkee's origins, and the front features an appliquéd cream "H" that is the ultimate easter egg. That logo may be familiar to some of our long-time readers as it's inspired by the original Hodinkee logo from 2008. Fifteen years later, we are bringing it back.
The 6-Panel Hat in Navy Wool is our attempt to create an easy-to-wear yet elevated hat that honors our community. With its vintage-inspired look and feel, we hope that the 6-Panel Hat in Navy Wool becomes a new staple in your closet.

Tote bags have become a staple around the Hodinkee office, and we wanted to make our own that was functional enough to hold everything you could possibly need, and stylish enough to sport every day. For the totes, we partnered with a U.S. manufacturer who has been making canvas products for over 100 years, to create our entirely own specs in two variations.
The Hodinkee City Tote in Grey Briquette
The first is the Utility Tote, which is based loosely on garden totes, but adapted for anything but. The bag is crafted from 18 oz tan cotton canvas and includes an olive green slanted front pocket, with each section allowing for the storage of items of different sizes. The inside features a laptop sleeve and plenty of space to pack for a weekend trip. The tote is finished with short, full grain leather-trimmed handles, as well as a heavy canvas shoulder strap that can be easily tucked back into the tote.

The second variation is the City Tote, which is our version of the classic beach tote. Available in both navy and grey briquette 18 oz cotton canvas, it features longer full grain leather-trimmed handles that are tall enough for shoulder carrying, while still being short enough for hand carrying. To prioritize slightly more organized storage, we've added a few additional pockets. There is a phone storage pocket on the outside for easy accessibility and a detachable security pocket on the inside which features a heavy weight, plastic YKK zipper that's perfect for a wallet, sunglasses, or even a few watches.

Field Notes "Hodinkee Edition" Memo Books
Lastly, we have the Field Notes. We revived our partnership with Field Notes late last year with our release of the "Khaki" Edition alongside our Limited Edition watches with Hamilton. People loved them, so we're bringing them back again with the Hodinkee Edition. Based on the scales of seconds and minute tracks, the outer covers feature varnished ink that shimmers in bright light. On the inside, you'll find our first-ever millimeter-based ruler for measuring lug widths and case sizes, as well as a few Practical Applications that were crowd-sourced by some of the biggest jokesters in the Hodinkee offices.
